You can configure user accounts for 98/ME computer users. The account will
have to match what those users use to logon to Windows Networking. If you
open the networking properties of the 98/ME computers there should be an
option to configure "Microsoft networking" or such as the primary logon
instead of Windows logon.
There are known problems with smb signing with some operating systems in
Windows 2003 which requires it by default in order to enhance security. What
you might try is to disable it by opening Local Security Policy via
secpol.msc and go to security settings/local policies/security options and
set the option for Microsoft network server:digitally sign
communications(always) to DISABLED. Also make sure that the server is a wins
client to itself and check that all the other computers are configured as
wins clients. --- Steve
