I'll post on top here because it was so long:
My main XP machine lost its internet connection later too, but now all
machines are back on internet, but the one old 98 machine is having a
problem finding the others on the network. I suspect that will clear up
eventually too. Seems this network just got flakey for some reason. I can't
really explain it. I think resetting the cable modem and router must have
solved the problem. Took a while for everything to get better though.
