I've got a Network Everywhere NWR40B router and 3 pcs and 1 wireless laptop
attached to it.
I'd like to assign static ip addresses to all of them. From the manual I
have, I've been able to complete this. However, I do have one question.
The last step of the instructions says to "Enter the preferred DNS server
and Alternative DNS server names as provided by your ISP"
My question is, do I really need to enter this. As a test, I used
192.168.1.1 which is the same as my default gateway and I can still connect
to the net.
I can ping the DNS servers to get the IP addresses and enter them in the
network connections. My concern is that if they ever change the ip
addresses for these servers, my entries would be invalid and would have to
be updated.
So, can I stick with 192.168.1.1?
Thank you
