I have a WIN98 PC cable connected to a LINKSYS WRT54G
router (TERAYON TJ615 modem from Comcast)and an XP laptop
with wireless 802.11g. Intenet access is always good for
both computers at all times under all circumstances.
However, when I set up home networking with the network
wizard, everything works great (file+printer sharing, etc.)
UNTIL I turn either machine off then on again. I've rerun
Network Wizard many, many times and the same thing happens
(works fine until power off/power on -- the 98 pc shows
only itself, the XP shows both, but denies access to the
98 pc machine.) I've read ALL the many network-related
messages in this newsgroup, as well as ALL those in
Comcast's networking newsgroups -- "Networking for
Dummies", "Windows 98 Secrets", countless articles from
the MS Knowledge base and practicallynetworked.com --
tried everything I can imagine so that I can reestablish
my home network connections on powerup. Is my only choice
to rerun Network Wizard on both machines every time I
power up? (It's a real pain...but at least it works?)

I am assuming that you are not running a domain controller
on your network anywhere. This problem is most likely
caused by how the machines are configured as master
browsers.
If you need help reconfiguring them let me know.

Since I don't know what a domain controller is, I would
have to say no, I'm not running a domain controller (none
that I know of). I have Browse Master and LM announce
enabled on the host (98 pc) machine and Client for
Microsoft Networks set as the primary network logon (quick
logon). For the XP machine (client) I let Network Wizard
do its stuff...I did enable LM hosts, though. Tried
removing the Wireless Adapter from the bridge, but I had
the same power off/on problems. Any assistance you can
give to help me configure the two machines would be
greatly appreciated!!
