network disconnect problems

I have a windows 2003 server with 1 server and 45 clients. All of the
clients are access a large pervasive database in addition to doing email (not
exchange), accessing the internet and other various tasks (word processing,
spreadsheets, etc)

Recently, all of the users are having network disconnect problems. The
pervasive database is sending 3106 messages (network timeout), sending email
gives messages that the network connection has been lost and other
connections to the server (opening word and excel files) gives network
connect lost messages.

What would be the best way to diagnose this problem?

Thanks for all help!

When you lost the connection to the server, can you access the Internet? Can
you still ping the server name? if you can't ping the severer name, can you
ping IP?

Bob

Thanks for the response.

Internet access has never been lost. The problem is more of a "multiple
retry" kind of thing, with impatient users.

Also, after further searching, it appears that we have some bad hardware
(one of the server's networks cards).

We will continue to monitor the situation and if needed, I will post again.

Thanks again for your time.
