My new client has a network that dies every few days. They called me to
replace their old server with SBS2003. One day, before I put in the new
server, their network died "this network interface is not connected". The
solution was to reboot the Netgear Network Switch. We threw out the old
switch and replaced it with Linksys.

Since putting in the new server, this problem has occurred twice more. The
solution is to reboot the switch.

What could it be? How do I trouble-shoot this? The problem is not
consistent. It happens every few days.

Is the old server still in place?

Symptoms are consistent with a faulty network card broadcasting all over
the place, eventually crippling the switch

The old server is out. It was old. The SCSI Raid controller had failed.

To troubleshoot the network, we've put the Netgear Switch back on the
network and divided the workstations between the old and new switch. My
hope is that only one switch will crash, and we can eventually isolate the
faulty station.
