network devices not showing up

Have a simple two computer network set up. Base station
on BASEMENT computer and wireless adapter on UPSTAIRS
computer. Everything seems to be connected. However,
when I open the Networking Utility window, BASEMENT
doesn't show up under the NEtwork devices list (in fact it
says that there are no devices found).

What am I doing wrong?
