Network Devices not showing

I have just networked two computers, one running Windows
XP Professional and the other running Windows 98. When I
open the Broadband Network Utility for my MN500 router I
do not see the other computer under Network Devices. For
example when I'm on the Windows 98 machine I see my
computer, the workgroup (base station), and that I am
connected to the Internet. However, I don't see the other
computer and therefore cannot access it in order to share
files, etc. How do I get the other computer to show up?
Is this possible while running two different versions of
Microsoft?

Thanks,
Dave

Win 98 will not recognize networks/shared folders on a XP PC if they have
more than a certain amount of characters on the network name. I got a
message warning me of this when setting names for shared folders on my XP
computer, the message says: "If the share name is longer than 12 characters,
this folder cannot be accesed by computer running Windows 98 SE, ME, NT 4.0,
or earlier. To make the folder fully accesible, name it using 12 characters
or fewer." I shorten some names since I had to type the whole message, it
wouldn't let me copy the text.

I don't know if this will help you, also check that both computers are in
the same workgroup.
