Win 98 will not recognize networks/shared folders on a XP PC if they have
more than a certain amount of characters on the network name. I got a
message warning me of this when setting names for shared folders on my XP
computer, the message says: "If the share name is longer than 12 characters,
this folder cannot be accesed by computer running Windows 98 SE, ME, NT 4.0,
or earlier. To make the folder fully accesible, name it using 12 characters
or fewer." I shorten some names since I had to type the whole message, it
wouldn't let me copy the text.
I don't know if this will help you, also check that both computers are in
the same workgroup.
