Network crashing repeatedly after firmware update

I have been having problems with my wireless network
crashing sometimes as much as 10 times a day. The only
way that I have found to get the network back is to
reboot the laptop. Why should I have to reboot the
laptop if I lose the network? There isn't a distance
issue because the laptop is within 10 feet of the base
station thru a floor from one level of the house to
another. I tried upgrading the firmware for the system
last night and have been having the same problems so far
today. Any ideas?

Which router do you have, and what are your settings? What ISP do you have,
and do you have a static or dynamic IP? Does your ISP provide a DHCP feed?

Router is an MN700. ISP is Comcast. The IP is dynamic
and Comcast does provide a DHCP feed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
