I have just uninstalled a copy of ewido anti-malware software which I had
been successfully trialing for a week or so. However, now that I've done
that I can no longer see the status icon for my connection to my wireless
network and if I try to access the Network Connections menu from Start it
hangs on me. I am connected to the net ok and all other applications seem to
be running.

Anyone got any ideas? Am running XP Pro SP2.

Thanks
Michael

Sorry, should have done this before the first posting...

from the control panel if I click on Windows Firewall I get the error
"because of an unspecified error Windows Firewall is unable to start". If I
click on Net Connections from here the control panel hangs.

How can I turn off firewall and bypass either of those utilities?

Hi
Would make more sense to check at www.ewido.net and see what is their
suggestions.
Or to use the free Windows Defender instead,
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx
