Good Afternoon All,

Please forgive me if the description of my issue is vague.

For the past week, users on my network have been experiencing network
connections issues, and the only way to resolve the matter is to repair the
connection or restart the machine. At first I thought it had something to do
with my DHCP Server settings but nothing has changed in the 2 years I have
had it up and running. I have also Power Cycled all equipment in my server
room, which includes the switches, and firewall as well.

We did have a power outage last week and that seems to be when the trouble
started...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Wow, yessir that is somewhat vague. It might help if you posted the results
of IPCONFIG /ALL from your server and one of the problematic workstations.
Maybe that would get some trouble shooting started. Regards, Samm

SeriousSam,

I will post results as soon as someone makes me aware of the issue.

Thanks for the help.

Joe

Joe,

There are several things that could be causing it. Its really hard to tell
where to start without any information. Posting the results of IPCONFIG /ALL
may allow a person to spot the problem, and it may not depending on what the
problem actually is. Right off the bat, it sounds like you are having a
problem with your workstations finding the dhcp server, or your IP leases
expiring and not being renewed. When does the problem occur? At boot up every
day or randomly.. Provide as much info as you can. Regards.

Samm

Sam,

The problem occurs randomly on any workstation through out the day. I have
checked to see if the DHCP server experiences the same issues when a
workstation is experiencing them and of course the DHCP server is fine. I am
starting to lead towards a hardware failure at the switch level. The more I
think about it seems possible. I will continue to monitor the issue and post
the results of the ipconfig/all when the problem arises again.
