Network Collisions

I'm getting 'lock ups' when transfering data (about 2gb) over my LAN in the
LAN I have a Netgear RP114 router and connected to that in another room is a
Netgear EN108.

I only get collision lights on the EN108. Could this be a fulty NIC or the
EN108?
2 x XP Pro and 1 x W2K (all fully patched) Oon the LAN
