Network Card Connections

Dear All

I currently connect onto the internet through a USB connection via a
broadband modem. I would like to change to my network card and set up a 2-pc
network. My ISP technical support have advised me that I select

IPCONFIG/Release with the USB connection and then
IPCONFIG/Renew with the new network card connection.

My MAC address is registered with the ISP and they say this is not the
problem.

I have repaired the connection in the connections window, uninstalled and
re-installed the network drivers and now we both seem at a loss as what to
do next. How can I check if the network card is working properly (it's
unfortunately integrated into the motherboard), so I can't test it in
another pc .

Please, please help. My husband says he will divorce me if I can't get the
network set up so she can use the internet on his pc (piggy-back on my
connection).

Thanks again for all your help.

Kagsy
