Network Browsing problem

Hi,

Recently we have installed some updates to our server (893066 I believe may
be the problem) and ever since then every 30 hours we have network browsing
issues from our exchange server. If I try to run \\servername I get machine
not found but if i use \\server.domain then it all comes up ok. If I reboot
our server everything then runs as normal again until the next 30 hour mark
hits and everything plays up again

We have run netdiag and get all the correct output and we also run
nbtstat -c and it lists the machines in the cache that we supposedly can not
find when trying to browse to them. We were going to remove this patch to
see if this was the problem but when I do this it warns us that this may
affect other patches/software installed on our exchange server - which I was
trying to avoid bringing up any other problems at the moment.

During the time we are experiencing this problem all machines on our local
domain can access exchange but any of our offsite domains can not access the
exchange server, I dont believe this is an exchange related problem as all
local clients work and it definetely appears more network related.

Anyone got any further ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Len.

You've proven to us there is no Windows or Exchange permissioning problem
with this machine. Anytime I hear "system works fine for a period of time
then stops responding to network communications for unknown reasons" I think
one of two things. Either the system is in need of the latest service pack
and patches (minus SP1 at this point) or it needs firmware and/or hardware
driver updates (notably for the network adapter). Check into that.

I'm curious, has MS05-019 patch recently been applied?

This problem started to occurr exactly 30 hours after MS05-019 was applied
to the system.

Will try updating the drivers on the netwrok card to see if that has any
impact.

If memory serves correct, there is a patch that goes on top of MS05-019
which corrects this problem.
