Network Bootup Errors?

I get three errors when I boot up my desktop computer
(Compaq Presario):

1)MAC Init error, problems in devices ROM, an error in
loading device driver DC21X4.DOS.
2)Error 7306, the driver failed to initialize, either
there was a failure in loading the program or in NET.EXE
file or... something about trying to load to working
memory...
3)Error 7321, network card drivers failed to load.

I use a broadband router to connect to the internet and
have no problems with it, but I have not been able to
share information between my laptop and desktop or use my
network neighborhood. I also cannot get any external
parallel port device other than a printer to work (I
always get a "device not ready" error after successful
installation of hardware and software). Does anyone know
if these problems are related to the bootup errors and
what I can do to fix things?
