Network between windows xp prof. and windows 98

I have been trying for a week now to connect my two
computers together so i can get some files off of my old
computer (running windows 98) to my new computer (running
windows xp prof.). I have been trying to network the 2
together but i have had no luck at all. I have tried
network setup wizard and the best i have got is that my
new comp is showing up on my old comp when i look in the
workgroup, but i CAN NOT access anything or even open
it. PLEASE HELP!!
