Basically I want more of my pcs in the LAN to have a 100.00 Mbps
connection instead of 10 Mbps. I know the network cards in the pc can
handle it. So what should I look for in a switch (any examples) to make
this possible? I am looking at maybe 20 - 30 pcs to have 100mbps.
Thanks

What prevents u from purchasing a swith, any switch with 48 100TX
ports? If u can't find a 48 porter, buy two 24 porters and "stack"
them.

Any 10/100 switch with enough ports ought to work. As the other poster
said, you can also use multiple switches with "uplink" connections.
That can be an especially good thing to do if you want to zone your
connections to save on cabling. If you want to look forward to the
future, you could get a switch with a/some gigabit port(s).

Thanks people. We've got a few 10 Base T hubs, I take it these only
power out 10mpbs to each point on the network?

I'm looking at getting a hp ProCurve switch 2650, which has 48 10/100
ports. Will it be as easy as plugging the network cables from the hubs
into this new switch and voila?

Yes.

The second u re-use those 10 Base T hubs, the connecting devices will
be running on 10mbit. Junk them. U can't even get $10 for them at
eBay.

You might want to keep them around in a closet somewhere just in case
your switch fails one day.

Hubs are also useful for debugging, because they make it easier to
attach another system (in promiscuous mode) as a traffic monitor.
