Does netstumbler work with the Proxim a/b/g wifi card and
does it tell me if an AP is a, b, or c.

Thanks

You can download Netstumbler and test it.

It does but Netstumbler doesn't differentiate between a & b/g...

Also it seems to perform poorly relative to other cards. I compared the
Netstumbler performance of all the WiFi cards available to me, including the
Proxim a/b/g combo card, Cisco cards (340 and 350), and the Orinoco card that's
built into my laptop; the built-in Orinoco is by far the best in terms of
reception range and speed of AP acquisition. The Proxim seems to take a long
time to detect/acquire an AP, and, once it's acquired it, seems to hang on to it
and pretend it's still there even when you've moved out of range. Sometimes it
takes so long to acquire an AP that you've driven past it and out of range
before the Proxim card even knows it's there; you miss a lot of APs this way.
