netstat -an shows no connections

on my W2k sp3 (can't move up just yet) I type in netstat -an at the cmd
prompt and I just get the column headings.

Active Connections

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State

I know I have tcp connections.
Any ideas?

Can you connect to the internet or other computers on the network?

Firewalls prevent me from going to the internet but I can connect to every
server that it is suppose to connect to.
