NETGEAR WRG614 - Can't log on to router to configure

I had some issues with the Linksys W11S4PC11 - my earlier post tells
of my woes. Anyway, as a replacement I went out and bought a Netgear
WGR614.

My problem with the Netgear is that I can't even log on to the router
via http://192.168.0.1 to configure the router.

I have two laptops that I use - One IBM t40, win xp pro with internal
Cisco PCI wireless lan adapter; the other - IBM t20, win xp pro with
linksys wireless adapter that came with the router.

After switching on the netgear and connecting to the cable modem, i
tried connecting from the t40 but no joy. So i tried connecting from
the t20 and initially i got to http://192.168.0.1 and half way through
configuring i appeared to lose access. I haven't been able to get back
on from either machine.

Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Being Netgear it probably doesn't work at all anyway...,
but try 192.168.1.1, and you may have to (initially) do it from wired
ethernet PC.

Martin

Martin,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them and let you know.

If all fails, I'll have to look at getting another cable modem
wireless router. Can you recommend one? I'm trying both Linksys and
Netgear and I'm not happy.

Regards,
Webgene

My Netgear didn't work, not even the software would load, support in India
useless, returned it.
Bought Draytek Vigor 2600We, installed in 10 mins, hasn't missed a bit since
May install.
Regards,
Martin
