Netgear Wireless Router / BT Voyager USB problems

Hi all,

I have the following . . .
1 x desktop with LAN card
1 x laptop with wireless lan capabilities
1 x BT Broadband Voyager USB modem
1 x netgear wireless router

Only problem is that the USB modem does not connect to the router (I
guess a more sensible buy would have been a modem / router )
Any ideas on how to get the laptop to access the internet via Internet
connection sharing from the desktop (e.g. ip settings, DHCP settings
for both the machines and router etc)?

Any help would be *greatly* appreciated!
