hi all, yes, its me, the one that wanted to go for a firewire network...
so what did i do??
i bought a netgear wireless card in the end.
now, the installation went well, its all up and running apart from one small
glitch..
the wireless connection connects perfectly well, but shuts down every 10
seconds and restarts again:

"wireless connection 6 speed 11.mbps"

10 second later

"wireless connection 6 - wireless connection unavailable"

this is probably something simple, but i cant seem to find the answer.
any ideas?

thanx

Signals can be very eratic - you can think you've got a good signal
then it dies...

Microwave often kills WiFi.

Try moving computer or Access Point.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your router and your network
card(s).

If using Windows Wireless Zero Configuration then make sure you disable IEEE
802.1x authentication for your wireless link.

If you are not broadcasting your SSID then it might help to start
broadcasting it. AIUI there is no practical benefit to turning broadcast
off - it certainly doesn't increase your security. Use WEP/WPA and MAC
filtering, change your gateway address and turn off DHCP etc etc. in order
to tighten security.
