NetGear WGR614: Wireless Works; Wired Desktop Freezes!

Hi,
I have a Dell 4550 connected to a NetGear WGR614v2 router (that is
connected to a DSL modem). I also have 2 laptops that have wireless
cards. The laptops work fine without interruption; the desktop
internet connection freezes within a few minutes (thereby freezing the
laptops too).
I have gone thru NetGear Level 2 support; they have upgraded the
firmware, made me delete all firewalls, and in general made me do a
rain dance before I figured out that the problem did not exist when I
wired the laptops to the router.
The conclusion seems to be that something is wrong with the desktop
itself (it works fine when connected directly to the DSL modem) - a
virus, a port incompatibility, bad karma..?? Has anyone experienced
this before - any ideas before I spend 10 hours with Dell Customer
Support??
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Nitin

Sounds like a problem with the router. If the desktop 'freezes', it
shouldn't affect other systems on the network. Adding or deleting any
system, wired or wireless, should be transparent to other systems on the
net.

Another duff Netgear router, get them to replace it. Better still get your
money back.
Buy Draytek Vigor 2600We, that's what I did, never missed a bit since.
Regards,
Martin
