Hi All,

I have a Netgear WGR614 that seems to drop its wireless access without
reason. The router will hum along quite nicely then wireless will drop and
nothing. power off router and it all comes back perfectly.

Doesn't seem to matter what wep/security/anything i change it will still do
it. netgear support have offered the usual recommendations that naturally
i've tried first anyway. using latest firmware upgrade also with no
difference.

anybody else had same problems? any comments most appreciated.

Regards,
NRJ

Same problems. When it works it's great, but sometimes I have to reset
the WGR614 5 or 6 times before I get a connection that doesn't drop
after 30 seconds.

Going to contact Netgear support, but I'm not holding my breath...

I'm suffering a similar problem. It was discussed under:

"Netgear WRG614: Hang during large file transfer"

on this group a week or so ago. I _thought_ I'd got the problem fixed
- by making sure the router runs cool and by slightly moving my PC to
improve signal strength - but I hadn't. Copying large files or
watching divx movies over the router frequently causes the wireless
features of the router to disappear.

I'm onto my second WRG614 (from BroadbandBuyer, who've been very good
so far) and I'm disappointed to say that the new one suffers from the
same problem.

As a first check, I'd make sure you're not running the router too hot.
For example, if you're using it with a Netgear DM602 modem and you've
got them stacked up, then they're probably overheating. When I used
the pair in that configuration it _really_ de-stabilised the router.

After that however, you may still suffer. I think I'm going to change
to something more bullet-proof. Haven't decided what yet...

Regards,

James

Is anyone else really hammering this router? E.g. frequent >100MB
file transfer from wireless to wireless?

I'm wondering if it works really well when it's not pushed and just
fails under heavy usage. It'd be good to hear from someone who's
using it hard _and_ finding it stable.

Regards,

James
