Hi,

I am interested in purchasing the Netgear WGR614 802.11g wireless
router and a Dell Truemobile 1300 802.11g wireless MINIPCI card which
I will install in my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop.

I read that there were some issues between these two devices. Have
this issues been resolved, and if not what other combination would you
recommend for my laptop?

Kind regards,
George Bozovic

I have that comination (I have a WGR614v1). so far I have not had and
unsolvable problems. I currently run the lastest beta firmware for the
router which adds WPA encryption, works well. Just make sure you have
the latest drivers and OS updates and everything should work.

Cheers

Here you can find the latest one that supports WPA encryption. It is rather
buggy but works for me.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...3300~mode=flat

Otherwise you should use the 1126-version from netgears website which is
much more stable but without WPA.

thanks

the router took the upgrade ok. WPA doesn't seem to work reliably for me.
I am unable to go back to 1126 firmware. I Get the following error if I try
to load 1126 or 1100

Upgrade file is not the correct type or version for this device

so I guess I will use 2010 in WEP mode until a better version is available.

BTW the wireless card is a WAG511 with v2.0 drivers on a toshiba lap top
with XP home

What I did to get WPA to work was, lastes drivers for wireless card and Win
XP WPA rollup patch.
Also I noticed that the router won't work with a too long WPA key, I
currently use ~8 letters, that works.
Also note that it sometimes turns off wireless the trying to configure
something, a simple powercycle or press "apply"
again when configuring via wired port fixes that.

hope things work out for you
