I am using WG511v2 wireless card in two pcs running Windows XP on my home lan
which connects to the internet via wireless modem.

Process Explorer shows wlancfg5.exe (an MFC application) running repeatedly
net.exe and net1.exe which is hogging cpu time. Any way to prevent this slow
down which is sometimes as much as 88%? If I disable the wireless connection
it stops. Is there a slimmed down version of this app?
I am not too keen trying to use wireless zero configuration since I am not
sure whether it will work at all

I have not got any help from the NetGear forums.

Thanks
Jayawanth

Hi
It depends, if you are running the Netgear Wireless utility, unload the
utility from startup and use Windows Wireless Zero Configuration.

There is also a possibility that one, two, or all of these processes are
part of the Drivers and there is No solution but getting a better Wireless
cards.
This is an example for inexpensive humble card,

This card would work with Vista too (if one of these days you would
upgrade).
