Netgear WAG 311 crashes XP

I really need some help. I have purchased a Netgear WAG 311 network
card and running it on an XP pro SP1 machine. It connects to my WGT624
router fine and has good signal strength however everytime i try to
access the internet it just hangs, either straight away or after a few
minutes. This is either through MS explorer or playing on online game
such as Everquest. I have downloaded the latest driver from Netgear,
got a new WAG311 card from Netgear, tried various PCI slots all to no
avail. Is there a setting that I have missed in XP. I can ping from
one computer to another over the network OK. so the card is talking to
the router and to another PC. it seems to hag by just wanting to put
some data tha through the wireless NIC. I am not using the WEP. If I
use a 3com wired NIC the PC runs fine.
