Hi All.

For some reason, my Netgear router seems to totally drop out after a while.

Everything will be running fine, and then it will stop. I can't get to the
internet nor to the router (ie. 192.168.0.1), it completely dies, yet all
the lights are still showing as operational.

I am using the latest firmware, Version 5.01 May 09 2003.

Although I can overcome the problem by turning the router off, and turning
the computer off, and restarting both, this is quite a pain really.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Mike!

Fortunately, and for some unknown reason, the problem has completely and
utterly stopped, and now the V2 has been running for the last 135 hours!

I never spoke to tech support. The hold time was 330 mins!!! After 30 I gave
up. But I was playing with settimgs in the router and I told the router to
lock IP addresses to each computer. So now each MAC Address always gets it
same IP each time it comes on to the router. It now is working well. If you
start having problems agian I would try what I did and see if it helps. I
glad yours is working. I hope mine kepps working.

I had problems dropping the connection with MR814v1 after to install the
firmware version 4.13.

I have installed my old version 4.11 and all is working fine again.

You will find enabling WEP causes a router reboot on larger file transfers.
Particularly "secured" ones. My biggest headache is the inability to turn off
logging (see my earlier post)

I have the same problem. I'm not using dhcp, so I can't fix it as you
did. I'm using the MR814v2 as an access point connected to another
router. I may have to return it....

But what to buy to replace it?...

This is interesting.

I have seen a similar disconnection problem, using WiFi and 128-bit
encryption.

Once in a while, I can't talk to the router anymore. Interestingly
enough, bringing down my interface and then bringing it up again,
asking an IP address by DHCP makes the router reachable as if nothing
had happened!

I noticed that it seemed to be triggered by large transfers.

My wired connections don't suffer any problem OTOH.

Regards,

Hugo
