Netgear MA311 and the orinoco_pci module

Earlier this morning I was working on getting my wireless network card
working under Linux (RH9 - 2.4.20-8). Once I installed the orinoco_pci
module it worked perfectly, but only for about half an hour. Around
the time it crapped out on me I was also downloading the latest
version of Java from Sun. I read a post somewhere saying that the
orinoco module has problems downloading large files and in general
shouldn't be used for Prism based cards.

In anycase, I wasn't able to get the card working again using
orinoco_pci (or _plx or _cs for that matter). Not sure what went
wrong. I downloaded the wlan package for my version of RedHat
(unfortunately I don't remember the URL) and it works great!

Does anyone have an idea as to why the orinoco module worked for the
short amount of time that it did? Was it just a fluke? Or am I
completely missing something about the configuration of the orinoco
driver?
