Hi All,
Firstly I'm a newbie to Linux (although I've been 'playing' with it on
and off to a very basic level for years).
I've just stuck it on an old Dell GXA and have been resolving most of
my configuration problems via YaST2 fairly easily.
I've been on the web via the built in Ethernet card with no probs.
A few things have me 'stuck' if you can help please.
Firstly, I would like to connect to my net via my WiFi MA101. The Dell
is dual boot wirh W98 and all is fine through that. I tried the
'confiure another network device' but the MA101 isn't listed so ticked
/ filled what looks like a generic set of config fields with USB,
SSID, WEP values etc but I'm pretty sure that wasn't correct.
I have read here and elsewhere that the chip used in the MA101
(apparently there are two versions of this unit and it seems to be an
'A') is common to other devices but am not sure if I can just
download a 'file' that will self install (as you would on a M/soft
box) ? I have also seen mentions of 'snapshots' but also am unsure if
this is what I need and how to do it?
My second problem (I gave up at 01:30 this morning) is trying to print
to a shared printer on a W98SE box. I think I was trying to install a
'Samba' printer (using SMB's?) on the SuSE box and once I entered the
i/p of the 98 box it then 'saw' my 98 shared printer. However, when I
tried the 'Test' (to see if SMB would work) the test failed? Samba
seemed to suggest you need to print to a 'queue' but I'm not sure if
the 98 'share' is infact a 'queue'? (I assume it must be or you would
get printing contention issues?).
Third is a more straightforward question re being able to 'share' some
filespace on the Linux box to the Wi98 network (to be able to use it
as a mini fileserver?) I have shares on all the 98 boxes but I'm not
sure how to 'see' them from the Linux box?
Any (gentle) advice welcomed please .. ;-)
All the best .. and thanks for your time in any case ..

p.s. I also downloaded and decompressed LICQ but again it seems you
have to edit files and enter complex command lines to install it?
