It almost works." Mark on 29-Dec-2002 03:42:00 AM
Using the HE102 with multiple laptops using netgears WEB501 dual band
cards. Speed has been impressive. The setup is not documented very
well for someone adding to a full wired network which I was, ie. in
order to remote admin the AP you have to be in the subnet or make your
routing correct, initially, which won't happen at many companies such
as ours. Finally, I noticed the laptops were not browsing correctly
with the wired side. I had to run network traces on multiple laptops
and workstations to prove that UDP broadcast messages are being
CORRUPTED by the AP. As a result, this setup is totally unacceptable
in our environment. My own software which uses UDP broadcasts will not
work. After multiple calls for tech support, I am still waiting for a
response. They did a great job answering the phone but are still
really slow on sending the problem to the correct level of support.. I
sent them email with complete network traces showing the issue. The
only comination I have not tested is using a different wireless card
in the laptops, unfortunately I only have one model for all our
hardware.
