Netgear failing on a Wednesday!

I'm running a small network based on a Netgear DG834 router. A laptop,
using a WG511 PCMCIA card communicates with it perfectly, except every
Wednesday, where, without fail, it won't do anything, not even show the
green active light.
I've re-installed it etc. etc. to no avail.
Once Thursday comes it's back working perfectly again.
It's bizzare; any suggestions please?
Thanks

John

Is your Netgear a DG834G model ?
Is there anything else on your network ?
If there is, does that work on Wednesdays ?
Do you actually know the time of day it fails/functions or is it at
midnight ?

A few more clues to your bizarre problem please.

Eric

Maybe there's some interference affecting the signal on a Wed?...mobile
fone, dect, fridge, anything?..oh, and it's an 834G you have, not a 834 ;-)

Hi Eric
Yes, it's a DG834G.
Yes, a couple of other PCs, who also experience the same symptoms on
Wednesdays.
The main PC is ethernet connected to the router and continues to work
on Wednesdays.
Not a clue what time it fails, just know it's dead in the morning,
alive again on Thursday morning.
Netgear support have been no hope, not suprisingly since it's 100% for
most of the time.
Thanks for the response.

John

this may be a silly question, but you haven't got anything set in the
Schedule page of the setup have you?

Or in any firewall you run on the PC?

Good idea Richard, but it lasts all day, so I'm going to have to
discount that suggestion.

Thanks P, but nothing unusual on a Wednesday, just the usual DECT
phone, mobile etc. as per every day.

Thanks Alex. Nothing scheduled for Wednesdays that is not scheduled
every other day. The firewalls are all in place and do not affect the
communication at all every other day. I'm not aware of any firewall
settings that are day/date dependent, are you?

So come on - what happens on a Wednesday in your office/home that doesn't happen
any other day? Perhaps a cleaner in another room turns a hoover on that spikes
the mains.

Try setting the dates on all your PCs and router to yesterday, and see if it
goes wrong.

Of course, you could be just winding us up. I've installed plenty of these
routers with positive and negative results, but no more or less so on
Wednesdays....
