I have Windows ME with Netgear FA311 ethernet card
installed. I installed it properly however, it does not
allow Windows to shut down. What happens in shutdown mode
is that the computer will transition into restart mode. I
am unable to shutdown without a push button power off.
When the FA311 card is removed Windows ME shuts down
properly. I appears there is a compatabilty problem. I
have the latest driver and I am unable to find a specific
article that deals with this problem through
Microsoft.com. Please help!

Can't help techinically , but I had the same card in my
machine and couldn't get it to network with my other PC at
all. Changed the card and it worked first time, so I
guess there is a compatability issue. Apparently network
cards are bitches!

I do not know if this will help you but it is worth a try.
Using the Internet, logon to Netgear.com and look for
support for FA311. There is an article(and a fix)
explaining that the EEPROM on a few FA311's was programmed
incorrectly and it acts like a FA312 because of this error.
Good luck!
