Hi,
Is there anyone using the ADSL modem Netgear model DM602 at home or
for teleworking, and has anyone had problems with firmware,
reliability etc.? Does it fall over frequently? Does the firmware
need updating?
thanks

(E-Mail Removed) (geoffers) strung together this:

>for teleworking,

I use one at home, as do the 3 other people I work with, as do most of
our clients.

>and has anyone had problems with firmware,

Nope.

>reliability etc.?

Nope again.

>Does it fall over frequently?

And again, no.

>Does the firmware
>need updating?

Doesn't _need_ updating, but it usually helps as it normally fixes
quite a few bugs that make things fall over and the like.

Had one for about a year now. Seemed to need power-cycling quite a lot
early on, but now it's quite good, especially since the last firmware flash,
which also gave it a firewall.

However, it still seems to have odd days (like today) when it needs
rebooting two or three times, often in fairly quick succession (30-60 mins),
not sure why ... could be someone trying to hack, or just BT f**king about
with the technology ... the reboot loses the logs, so you can't tell unless
you happen to be watching at the time.

BTW, I hope that's not your real email in the header, because if so the
trawlers will find it and you'll get lots of spam ...

It's prone to overheating in warm weather and under constant load.
Netgear is cheap, but NOT cheerful..., more like PITA !
