I have a reasonably new Netgear DG834PN.
I very stupidly installed Norton 360. After lots of hassles, when I couldn't
get any sort of internet or network access I uninstalled it using Norton
total uninstall tool
Although I now have internet access (wired) for both pcs connected to
the router, I want to set up wireless connection again for the laptop but
set up tells me "no cable or router detected"
Yet surely there must be to get the internet access and network access?
All lights, inc the wireless & the two port, on the router are on.
Help!

Use the CD that is in the box. It will guide you through again.
Did wireless work before Norton was used as it wouldn't have anything to do
with that fault.
Go in to the router config screen from the icon on your desktop, the one
installed the first time you put the cd in. Make sure that wireless is
enabled. Then double click on your wireless icon on the pc and tell it to
scan for new networks, once detected click connect - then enter your WPA-PSK
key !
The key is the one you first put in when you used the CD to set the router
up.

If someone else did it for you, get them to do it correctly.

forget about the setup for the moment. Is the wireless enabled on the
laptop? Some laptops have a button/switch that needs to be activated. Even
if the wireless is switched on there, it can still be disabled in the
network connections (assuming xp) window.

What to do. Go to network connections, make sure wireless is not disabled,
make sure a wireless switch is on..... If still a problem, maybe a corrupt
winsock (following norton internet shit uninstallation)...

Yes wireless worked before Norton and enabled with the laptop. Have gone
through the cd about 15 times. I've got to the stage now where the laptop
sees the other computers but still won't connect to the internet
