I had no problems at all getting the ADSL and Ethernet links up and running.
Now to the wireless and I'm having no sucess at all.

First the DG834G's wireless light is off which according to the manual,
indicates that wireless is turned off.

Next I look at the manual, section 4 which states: "To configure the
Wireless interface of your router, click the Wireless link in the main menu
of the browser interface." I assume they mean the router's browser interface
with default address of 192.168.0.1 ? If so I can find no Wireless link in
this interface.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

David

From the default screen after loggin on to the router:

Click on the Wireless Settings link in the left hand window pane, then the
tick box that says 'enable wireless access point' in the centre window. Set
an SSID, select region, and WEP encryption if you want

There in is the problem. Believe it of not there is no "Wireless Settings"
link displayed in the left hand window pane!

If I look at the html source there should be, as indicated by the code:
<td valign="top"><img src="redbull.gif" alt="" width="7" height="7"
align="top" vspace="6"></td>
<td><a href="setup.cgi?next_file=wire_sel.htm&todo=cfg_in it"
target="formframe">Wireless Settings</a></td>

So I tried entering
http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?next_fi...&todo=cfg_init as the
browser addresss and it takes me to the Wireless Settings page. "Enable
Wiress Access Point" is checked but there is no wireless light on the front
panel and my wireless laptop gets no signal.

This is definitely strange. Me thinks this unit is DOA.

So was mine. Return it. Save yourself lot of wasted time: get anything else
but Netgear.
I bought Draytek Vigor 2600We, haven't touched it since May 2003.

Martin

I stayed on-line with tech support for over an hour to no avail. The unit's
behavior is rather strange - I can get to the wireless setup through a "back
door" method, but I'm given to believe that the wireless functionality is
just plain disabled. I'm also of the belief that the unit's main board is
capable of serving as the base for several different models and in this case
someone forgot to insert a jumper although I never opened the case for fear
of voiding the warranty. In the end I've returned it to the vendor where I
purchased it.

I've looked for something else including the Draytek Vigor 2600We and the
3Com 3CRWE754G72-A but I can not find either readily available here in the
States. Looks like there are more choices available in the UK than here. So,
it looks like I'll try another DG834G and keep my fingers crossed.
