Netgear DG834G latest firmware?

I would appreciate comments from users of the latest non-beta firmware for
the DG834G. I want to upgrade a unit from 1.05.00 but don't want to
introduce problems. Two questions for anyone with experience of this
firmware:

1. Does the latest firmware support WPA-PSK reliably as I tried with this
unit and it failed on 1.05.00
2. Does the latest firmware support VPN?

Oh and where do I get the latest firmware from and are there many dangers in
doing an upgrade?

Thanks in advance for any advice / info.

Tony

I didn't have any problems with WPA-PSK between other netgear devices or
a centrino laptop on 1.05.00 - however the wireless driver is
significantly improved in the latest release from Netgear.

Yes.

Another poster gave a link to this - if something happens to go wrong
you can use a recovery utility Netgear can provide. I recommend not
upgrading the firmware over a wireless link.

Agreed - stability is vastly improved. In fact I've not had a single
wireless drop, ever, since I left v1.05 behind many months ago.
WPA-PSK always worked fine for me with v1.05 and likewise on multiple
other routers of this type which I have configured for people. Perhaps
the problem lies elsewhere?

There is still a serious wireless problem where the AP will shut down in
the presence of another strong wireless signal. But that may be a
hardware issue which will never be cured. The latest software has bugs
such as the email date month and an inability to restore backups if the
saved configuration used a long email username in SMTP authentication.
