I posted the original message (below) some hours ago, but now I think I
might have
found a bug in the latest version of Netgear DG834G. The problem described
below was never noticed before I upgraded the router to 1.05.00 and I would
like
someone with a similar setup to confirm whether or not I'm right.....

Please read the following message, I posted earlier regarding the problem.
I have an awful feeling that this problem has only just appeared since
upgrading
the firmware of the DG834G.

---------- Original Message ------------
I have recently set up a wireless 802.11g network from a pc downstairs to a
modem/router upstairs. I was looking at the connection properties last
night and
I noticed that I had sent nearly 30 megabytes of data down the connection in
a
matter of two and a half hours. The problem is I never actually actively
used
the PC on the internet at this time.

My question is... Is it normal for a wireless connection to be constantly
sending data out all the time, even though you may not actually be using the
internet or transfering data from one pc to another? Or have I got a virus
in the system?
----------------------------------------

Could someone who is using a DG834G with the latest firmware, please
test their wireless 802.11g connection and tell me if they are having
similar
problems with data being constantly sent over the connection. (Even when
you are not browsing the net, or downloading anything)

Thanks
James

Try firing up a "cmd" prompt and typing:

netstat -a

That will tell you all connections to/from your machine.
