I don't understand what happened now. After LCP goes up the router should
either say "CHAP authentication success" if able to connect to the DSL
network or "Initialize LCP" one minute later when no connection can be
made. Did the log have any more entry lines after that line?

After your PC re-established a connection to the Internet or even just to
the router, what did the router's log page say about any events which
occurred during the period during which you lost connectivity?

Were you able to connect to the router? If so, what did the Router Status
page say about whether there was a connection (Look under Modem Status:
for the word Connected)?

Without more information it sounds to me that your printer's presence is
killing the operation of some software components in your Linux OS and
this is not a Netgear issue. But if you have more DG834G log information
it would help in the diagnosis.
