Just got this V4 for the first time and am trying to set it up for
someone off-site.

Going to 192.168.0.1 I get a Smartwizard which does not let me go past
it. It just says that it cannot detect an ADSL signal and stops dead.

How do get to configure this without going on-site?

This is progress?

Thanks.

Is there some way to abort the SmartWizard?

Or try connecting it to your own ADSL service and temporarily configure it
with your own PPP login & username. After that it might not want to run the
Smartwizard again ...?

Or connect via Telnet and configure it using the command line ...?

Or send it back and get a router you ***Can*** pre-confiigure

You can bypass the wizard by adding basicsetting.htm to the URL you
use to get to the router:

e.g. http://192.168.0.1/basicsetting.htm

Thank you.

In the end I went on site and let the wizard do its think. It is so
sloooow! Each step had a progress bar and took at least two minutes.

I'll try your link on the next one I get.

Does the V4 have any significant improvements over the V3?

There's probably an option to disable the smartwizard using this url

http://www.routerlogin.com/CA_HiddenPage.htm

Thank you. I've done it by going on-site but I have logged this for
next time.
