Anyone have any speed problems with the Netgear DG834 router? Got one the
other day, but even when I'm the only computer connected to it I can only
get about 30KB/s from the net. When I connect with the BT USB modem it gives
me a steady 55kB/s.
I have e-mailed Netgear, but they are slow replying.
I am on a 512k BT Yahoo DSL line if that makes any difference.

Thanks,
Pete.

No - mine gives consistently near to 60k (which is what it should on a
512k connection)

Pete, I do have same problem. Using DG834v2 (shipped firmware ver).
Upload 244kb/s , download 247kp/s
Tested via "speedtest.vispa.net" an
"www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest"

I'm on 512K with VISPA.

Out of interest , what does your router say are the noise levels on u
and downstream conections ? Any idea what the tolerences are ?

Still investigating at the moment, will be upgrading firmware tonight
see if that makes any difference.

regards,
Steve

1) What Upstream and Downstream Connection Speeds are being displayed on
the router's Maintenance, Router Status screen?

2) If those results were measured with a wireless connection, try the same
tests again using ethernet cables into the router.

Mine's fine, showing 1.8Mbps on a 2Mbps connection with my wife
listening to radio on a second connected PC.
