With reference to my msg <(E-Mail Removed)> which
started the thread "Which Modem/Router (I know...sorry...)" I ended up
with the DG834.

Waiting to go live but installed OK - one query though. The Green LAN
indicator seems to be constantly going through a cycle of several blinks
-> solid for 2/3 secs -> several blinks and so on. Is this normal even
though no data is actuall moving ?

Appears to be.

Yes. I'm sitting here watching the two LEDs blinking in the way
described.
