Hi all

As the subject, anyone using a Netgear DG834 wired modem/firewall/router
with Kingston Communication's broadband service?
If so, how does it perform and how well did it integrate/setup?

Any comments appreciated

TIA

Phil

Its an infamously bad router unfortunately - It cant hold sync on most lines
& will reset itself when it loses synch.

Infamously bad where?

I've never had a probem with any of the ones I've ever fitted and
never really hear anything bad about them anywhere.

Do you subscribe to uk.netgear.dg834.complaints? Is that where it is
bad?

Is that something peculiar to the DG834? It's certainly differs from my
extensive experience of DG834G v1 and v2 used in many places here and
abroad and with many different ISPs. The only type fault I know about is
the susceptibility of the wireless to shut down in the presence of other
strong local radio signals such as from other APs or cordless phones.

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,340 for DG834 problem

Check google groups for more info.

People have tried v1, v2 and v3 of the router and its noise tolerance is so
specific that it just wont work on their lines. Netgears response is "The
DG834 is rated to sustain [less than] 20 noise and 20 attentuation" which is
a immaculate line.

"Rate to sustain less than 20 noise" is pseudo-technical nonsense. Even
if your quote was some confused and butchered paraphrase of a report about
performance with particular noise margins measured in dB it would say
nothing bad because "less than" means "worse than".

This is Internet News where you have freedom of speech and anyone who
wants a second hand report of uncited materials from an anonymous poster
with no understanding of the subject is welcome to what you are peddling.
