Netgear DG824M / DG834G Wireless router ?

Hi there every one

excuse my lack of knowledge in this field but i recently purchased , along
with a friend, a Netgear DG824M and DG834G router which has an inbuilt ADSL
modem.

My question is i am seriously considering opting for a cable broadband
connection and was wondering if the routers itself can just act as a noral
wireless router to share the internet withouth using the adsl modem inbuilt
to it access the internet.??
i have the modem for the cable and was wondering if i can use the router
still or need to get another model?
