Just to tell you how I got on.
I constructed a parabolic reflector as described in the link you gave,
but the results after much playing around were very disappointing.
I began to suspect that my problem was down to the unbranded PC card
that had been supplied (free) with the DG824M. I ordered and installed a
Linksys WUSB11 - and it's magic :-)
I now get signal strength of Good or better throughout my house,
conservatory and garden (60 yards long). And that's without the
parabolic reflector.
I chose the WUSB11 because (a) it had a fold-up aerial which gave me the
option of using a parabolic reflector on that (if needed) and (b) the
USB feed allows me position the unit a little distance from my PC
(further if I use a hub), and (c) the unit has a wall mount which is
easy to fit and move.
Again, thanks for you interest.
