Any clues as to what the following messages mean and how to fix them. I am
running RH7.3 . I replaced the Ethernet card (with identical hardware) but
that did not seem to work. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks,
glenn

Is your ethernet card eth1? I doubt it. What this says is that there is no
link on eth1, most probably because there is no card there!! As long as
your connectivity is not being affected, you can safely ignore these
messages.

What nic, kernel version, and module? I had problems using Netgear
FA310TX with newer tulip modules, so I was using Mdk 7.0 with updated
2.2.x kernel and old_tulip module until that box died. With the newer
2.2.x tulip, the nic would not work until it received traffic (had to ping
it before it would work)

The tulip in earlier 2.4.x kernels would work for awhile, but overnight
started getting the errors you get. If would work again if I took it down
and back up. But that was not an option for a headless box with network
only access.
