I have a client w/ a small network, one NT 4.0 PDC/Exchange & mix of 6 XP/98
machines.

I changed the IP on the server, one windows 98 machine continues to resolve
the server name to the old address. All other machines, including other 98
machines resolve the server name to the new IP.

I have run nbtstat -RR on the culprit machine, put an entry in the lmhosts
file, & even unintalled & reinstalled the NIC. BUT THE DERN THING keeps
resolving the server name to the old IP! So the user cannot connect to
Exchange, booooooooo!

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

The NBTSTAT -RR is used if you are running WINS. Use NBTSTAT -R run after
you put the entry in the lmhosts file.

After running nbtstat - R, run nbtstat -c to verify the entry you added to
the LMHOSTS file is in the netbios name cache.
