Tanya,
I really appreciate your attempt to resolve this situation. However, it's
turned into a "fishing expedition" of which I am getting both tired and
frustrated. In addition to our dialog I must have read 20 to 30 articles
from Microsoft, Belkin, Practically Networked, EZLINK, etc. This whole network
thing (except for the Internet connection shared by the two computers that is
working fine) is really for learning and experience, and a base for potential
advice-giving to customers of a software application we develop. To this
point it's not worth the hassle.
My next step will be to bring in a network-savvy contact and have him work
hands-on on the actual system/network. In the meantime, I am "ripped" at
Microsoft. What I'm trying to do is not (or should not be) rocket science -
two computers, both XP, a router and wireless adapters, and a shared printer
and shared files. If Microsoft provides a wizard to mask whatever complexity
is involved, damn it - it should work!
