"net send" equivalent for Win 98SE

I have a network of XP professional and Win 98SE
machines. How do I send a message (over the network)
from one to the other?

Use Winpopup. It may not be installed on your system but it does come with
every copy of Windows. You may need to use Add/Remove Programs, Windows
Setup tab to install it.

Instant messaging programs like Yahoo, MSN Messenger, ICQ and AIM work great
for this.
