I've got a Net-Lynx (branded) router which at some point has had
Safecom Firmware put in it - CX82xxx_4.1.0.21

After pressing the Default button for about the 100th time I managed
to get in with the admin/epicrouter username/password combination, but
then, in a fit of madness, decided to do a "factory default".

The DHCP server doesn't seem to be enabled. and I can't even get into
it on 10.0.0.2 now. Any other things to try before I bin it?

The only reason why I'm playing with it is because my phone line has
gone noise, and the router used to cope better than my 3Com one.

Try 192.168.1.1 or asking on http://adsltech.com/portal/forum/default.asp

If your line appears noisy (poor SNR/noise margin) when using a 3Com router,
it's a pound to a pinch of salt that the noise is being generated by the
3Com's switching power supply.

If you have a 12v 1A power supply lying around which uses a conventional
transformer + rectifier, try that instead. Chances are that the router will
then work perfectly - mine does!

[I recently had a look at the output from my 3Com supply on a scope - and
it's truly *awful*. There's a bl**dy great spike every 10mS, and a lot of
noise in between at a frequency of 3-4MHz and an amplitude of several tens
of mV - certainly enough to upset the router!]

There is also a CD you can download at that site to get the new
firmware in the router. I am using firmware done in around April this
year - it works ok here, though I am using a Safecom router which I
got from Ebay for £15, and it came shrinkwrapped with this firmware
pre-loaded.
